Oh Jamie Cullum. I have loved his unique jazz-pop since I was in high school. He makes the warm jazz sound accessible to the pop music realm by blending traits or mashing up/covering songs.
He came to speak at Canadian Music Week during a tour stop (I can’t believe I didn’t go to see his Massey Hall show. Idiot!) for an exclusive interview and performance at the piano at the Fairmont Royal York hotel. The interviewer mainly just took him through all of the famous people he knows annd how they’ve impacted his music, but occassional great moments came through.
It was great to see this guy, even if it was about 45 minutes long of someone else’s interview. Hopefully he comes back sometime soon (although he won’t, he’s never here). I still haven’t heard his latest album, The Pursuit. What do you think of it?
